I was standing in line at MEC to buy chain lube and saw some really light "travel umbrellas" but Al nixed the idea. Maybe I'll get one for a future trip.
2 years agoWe had a similar issue--we had ordered a van taxi and when it was late and I called to see where it might be, I was asked if I really needed a van. Yes, that's why I specifically booked one!
2 years agoIt's amazing (to me) that you are such similar sizes. I have a photo of Al riding my Co-Motion to test the gears and it's hilarious. He's almost a foot taller than me.
2 years agoI have the same gearing and love it, though I sometimes think about an even bigger cassette...
2 years agoBike touring challenges your creativity. The day Anne and I wanted to ride the Aspin and Tourmalet return in one day was a bit too far so we found a solution...shuttle car to the top of the Aspin and away we go. 20 Euro tip...problem solved!
2 years agoHi Kathleen. Thanks for your comment. Ha ha. It's a totally appropriate reaction. This place is stunning.
2 years agoBefore I read the caption I said “Whoa - look at that!”
2 years agoThat's for sure. When she suggested the lift up there, I didn't fight back about it like I usually would. Hence, the smile. For once, I was flexible. Ha ha.
2 years agoBelieve it or not, most of my photos are being taken on my Google phone. The photos turn out incredible.
2 years agoThanks. It really turned out better than I thought.
2 years agoWow, Scott. That's high praise coming from you. I feel the same when I read your journals. The big difference for me is finding that I have more time and comfort to put some effort into my journal this trip. There's nothing like lying down on a nice soft bed, propped up with pillows and having the time to write and post photos. Thanks for the compliment. It means a lot.
2 years agoI’m really enjoying this journal, Patrick. It’s one of the rare ones that makes me envious of someone else’s experience.
2 years agoBeautiful shot.
2 years agoGreat smile! She must have heard that you’re getting lifted up to Paso Cereda.

Hi Jacquie. HaHa. Maybe Al could carry it? But, it doesn't sound too keen on the idea.
