Safe travels guys! Look forward to following along.
11 months agoYou have no idea how much looking back and forth at dozens of almost-alike bird pictures on the internet that it takes for me to "maybe" come up with an ID. My specialty is actually lizards in the Phoenix AZ area. But it is fun to dig around and figure stuff out. Now, if only I could remember from day to day what I recently looked up!
11 months agoI love it when someone else does the research for me. I'm not much of a shopper. We have been discussing what to do about luggage for a one way trip from Frankfurt to Lisbon. I like the wheels.I went with the 110 liter version for $53. - that is the current price today. It weighs 4.2 pounds. Jacinto did volunteer to carry it - although at that weight, I would probably try the ship ahead method.
11 months agoI know appallingly little about the Yucatan, so I appreciate your survey of the regions and their various charms. It all sounds beguiling, and warmer than Tucson in January. Looking forward to your story.
11 months agoI agree with what Art is saying, go to Seattle and fly on Alaska Airlines. Not that I have researched that but it can’t be this nightmarish.
President Biden has been on the warpath on junk fees charged by airlines and hopefully what you describe on Flair won’t happen south of the border. Time to ask Trudeau to do the same.
I think you'll pick it up in no time.
11 months agoIf you’re thinking about Murcia and the bikes, you should look at the Cercanías. I’m not certain about the one centered on Murcia, but the others we’ve taken are very bike-friendly regional rail services - you can just roll your bikes on. This spring we’ll be taking the one from Alicante to Murcia and then west to Llorca.
It might give you some flexibility - for example, you could bike down toward the coast and then take the train back.
And I thought Spirit Airlines nickeled and dimed us going to Costa Rica! This has that beat!
11 months agoSounds like a great opportunity, Tricia!
11 months agoHi guys!
What if you take the ferry to Seattle and fly out of there or fly to another US west coast city on one of the cut-rate airlines then into Mexico? It would probably take a hotel overnight in the US?
We too are forming Spanish ideas though whether ot not to bike is very up in the air probably too much hill for us. Our grandson has been in Spain playing football has been there for two years he is presently playing for a team in Murcia and our daughter and husband are going over there to live for a year leaving in a couple of weeks. In addition our son has a house in a hill town in Andalucia and they spend sometime there each year so it seems a good idea to take advantage of this. We will see.
11 months agoI like all of these plans. Looking forward to following your journey.
11 months agoYou're never too old to learn a new language, Steve! Go for it! Having some knowledge of the language enriches your experience of the country in so many ways, even if you aren't so good at speaking yet.
Looking forward to your Yucatan adventure!
I have a lizard question, Bill. Do they hibernate? I try to close the garage door in Tucson quickly, as I have twice had to shoo lizards back outside. Jacinto says it's too cold now to worry about lizards. I know I could google this, but it is more fun to ask our local expert!
