Reminds me of the series of churches we saw 35 years ago biking from Quebec City to Montreal.

Interesting that this reminds me of my father, who also has taken the shots for years.

OMG yes! You look so much like your father. What a dude.

Being the “good” Catholic boy you once were instilled in you to take care of your Dad. Good for you, Gregory :)

You are getting close to somewhat home territory for me. I lived a few miles south of Galena in Savanna, IL 2 different times for a total of 12 years. I fondly remember going to the BSA 75th anniversary jamboree in Galena. 13 Scouts from our troop, scoutmaster and me. I was told to keep them from killing each other. I was at least a success in that department!

Good idea to change your plans a bit to avoid that rain as it still seems likely that it will be coming on Thursday. If you do get to Dubuque, we'll be camping at the fairgrounds through Wed. August 21. We'll also be in the Twin cities area in September. It'd be fun to finally meet up.

You seem to be following me around the Midwest, LOL.

Guess what--if all goes according to plan, I'll be in Dubuque on Thursday. I did see the rain reports though, so who knows? Anyway, depending on where you're camping, maybe I can stop by your Airstream for a few minutes to (finally) meet you two in person.

I have no doubt things will be different--maybe even unrecognizable. So, I'm looking forward to seeing and writing about my impressions too.

Thank you. Yes, it really is all about being on the bike and having some fun.

And guess where we'll be heading to on Wednesday - Dubuque!! To attend a Big Band dance festival next weekend. If the weather is good (I see rain in the forecast at the end of the week) we hope to get in a little biking ourselves between all of the dancing.

This sounds like an eminently workable solution to feeding the need to tour. You may not have thought of this, but I bet it’s not the same as when you were growing up in that part of Iowa. So We will be interested in hearing/seeing your impressions.
