Nice selfie! It must feel great to be out on your bicycle!

Actually, the mass testing is a combination of very scientific procedures and cost saving, with a dash of security theater.

There are varying numbers of swabs per batchset with the "we are pretty sure no one in this set has C19" batches (general public) being around 10 and the "we really really really want no one in this set to have it" batches (Q hotel workers) being something like 4.

Fit Steve commented on Day L51: Compound Biking Begins Again

Yeah I figure this moment was going to come eventually. The situation is going to improve for sure. Just today I enjoyed some more compound biking and sunshine. The thing is based on what happened in the past it is unforgiveable and we always have this hanging over our heads that they could do it again. Most of the population will no doubt forget about this over time and enjoy their regained freedom, but hardly anyone takes the long-term view around here.

I’m glad things are getting better but you are right about learning from what has happened and getting out when you can!

Maybe you already know about these guys. They are longtime expats in China, both married to Chinese nationals. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bIdWcW8lccE

How horrible! Like Andrea mentioned we are finally getting some news on what’s happening.

CNN has a correspondent sealed into his apartment in Shanghai. Today’s story had clips and also noted that the censors are overwhelmed. There was an eerie sight of shipping containers being placed to block roadways, just fyi. It’s on all the nightly news channels here.

Actually I wasn't aware this got out to international news. It was quickly censored and taken down, so this is actually encouraging if others outside China are noticing all that.

Thanks very much Bruce, I'm glad this helped you. Yes the connection to bike touring is spot on.
