Can you be more specific about how people are acting? Here in Thailand, even though the mask mandate was dropped months ago, most folks are wearing masks outside the home, so we do too. Outside in an open air, uncrowded setting, no, we don’t. It’s interesting how we try to gauge the situation and read the room. But it just feels better to respect a local norm, and it has probably kept us safer.
1 year agoThanks for the update. You were the first that came to mind when I started following the news on this. Hope it holds!
1 year agoI agree with your theory,
Cycling since 1956... Yeah, lotta scars, some endos, etc. My experience echos your thoughts. 26 inch wider tires, lower c-g all seem to play into it.
Steve glad to see you may be out soon and on the way to The Land of Smiles ,I think this story would make a great Movie.
I have a couple of friends who are cycling in Thai at the moment and they are loving it .
Keep smiling and one day I may meet you on the road xxx

Very little traffic?
2 years agoGee whiz, I think I would have gone 'stir crazy' by now, Kudos to you. In Western Australia we fought for Zero Covid and admitted defeat about half a year ago but by then 95% vaccinated. I'd have been on a plane out of there by now. Good luck.
2 years agoYeah there's no easy solution but at this point I'm not doing anything drastic. I'll stick to my long-term plan and anticipate these lockdowns will happen in waves. Despite the well-meaning intention of these friends, they aren't the ones paying my bills and they're all commenting from outside China except the last one who escaped from one compound to another.
2 years agoWhat a hard decision to deal with!
2 years agoThank you very much. Yes it's on the radar screen but the logistics of how and when to do it as well as potentially leaving loved ones behind is what keeps me up at night. On the other hand as another friend said "You also are faced with windows of opportunity to escape, that open and close with little notice with the length of each closure being variable". So it's really hard either way
2 years agoYour friends comments are very interesting. I would definitely get out as quick as possible and you have set your self up very well to do that!
2 years agoWhat an experience. So glad you documented it. Good luck going forward.
2 years agoI agree with everything you've said here.
2 years agoUnbelievable that it still looks like this.

Good question, I basically updated the journal page for that. It is now approaching the same situation in other Asian countries such as Korea and Japan
