Keep in mind that these mattresses are very light and pretty much board-like to sleep on, no springs or anything, probably styrofoam or something similar inside. But yes, can you imagine?

89 miles in one day?! A feat of strength!!

That is seriously nuts that those loads are transported on 2 wheels.

This photo of your bikes on the little boat is better than a dolphin sighting, methinks.

This is a great part of the world in which to cycle tour. There is nothing to ever worry about and everything is so interesting. And I love the Mekong.

I love smooth roads like this as long as it's not the rainy season. This is all clay so when it gets wet it is as slippery as ice and a lot messier.

It really was a great trip. It was probably good we didn't know what the heck we were doing, we just got incredibly lucky with almost everything, our route, the weather, the people we met.

Photos like this make me wish that this journal could keep going for another 100 entries or so.

A beautiful end to a great day ... And what will happen tomorrow?

Maybe you could take out a couple of old rollers and set up a game of street paint roller polo in front of your house?

These guys have the right idea!

We found out Son Pot's name because, VERY coincidentally, Chris Pountney stayed at this exact guesthouse the night before and had managed to catch his name. ("There was an Englishman here last night", Son Pot told us)

This photo really captures the inviting-ness of the road.

Love this photo! It's so nice to see the faces of the movers and shakers that most people never hear about. Seems you've met so many of these remarkable people during your travels.

Yes, just when you think you are screwed something great happens. Well, not all the time but those are the times we remember. All those other times when we really were screwed we have either forgotten or we laugh about them now.
