Son of Bing Bong doesn't just emit smoke, it has a three-pack-a-day smoking habit. You can't bring him anywhere. I'm trying to get him to quit.

And the traditional “dip in the ocean” at the beginning and/end of a tour. Yours will have to do..

This feature ( screw cap) is so popular the Sebastiani family ( well one of them anyway) came up with “screw cappa Napa”…

Notice how you have distanced your bike from the other one and the scooter..Oh, I get it! You know your bike is so cool it emits “smoke”, and the sign specifically states “NO Smoking within 25 feet of any exterior door”.. tres chic, Greg!

Remember, the source of “cheese” placement.. Chico State College. ..circa 1967, no less. Hmmm. Maybe they did this because the sound of the word “cheese” is in CHEE-co..🙄
This “factoid” actually made Herb Caen’s column in the San Francisco Chronicle that year! That was a bigger deal than Velveeta itself..

Good story, Karen. Thanks for sharing it. And thank you for all the other comments as well. It's nice to know that, every once in a while, somebody actually reads one of my older journals.

Yes, I do the NYT Crossword in ink. Along with cycling, it's one of my favorite daily activities.

I can't imagine Velveeta positioned next to the Gouda, the Camembert, the Brie, the Gruyere, and the Havarti. Wow!

The Blue Mound shares the Green in foreground. Wowza. We don’t have that color green anything here in California nature settings. Thank you very much!

THIS is why I live in California..I don’t do thunder and lightning..too scary for me… When my younger daughter went to Loyola University-Chicago, there was a meet and greet for the parents of the freshmen. My first experience of “your weather” was shown right before my eyes INSIDE of a building which happened to be on the lake. One of the parents sitting across from me said “oh, lady, you’re not “from here”, are you? To which I said, “no”. When he asked me where I was from, I said “I am a native San Franciscan”, and he said “you can have your earthquakes”, and I said “you’re welcome” ..
Ironically, even though your journal is an older one and I am now beginning to read it, on this very day in 1989 at 5:04 pm we had the 7.0 earthquake here in Santa Cruz which everyone assumed happened in San Francisco because they were all watching the World Series Game at Candlestick Park (vs the Oakland A’s)…
