How funny. He and I rode nearly the same ride today. It was almost exactly the same except that I came back to town along the Santa Cruz instead of Skyline. He’s right - that northern loop through Rancho Vistoso is really nice. You should try it.
2 years agoJacinto says a man in a Forerunner picked him up. The man had a bike rack, but Jacinto's bike didn't fit because of the fenders. Instead they put the bike inside.
I've added that to the journal page also.
I wonder if the National Park entry station has had robberies? Amazing that they don't accept cash.
2 years agoInquiring minds want to know: When Jacinto hitched a ride, what kind of vehicle offered him a ride that would take him as well as his bike?

Steve- not cleaning the bike is also Jacinto’s solution! This past summer, I finally took pitty on his bike and wiped it down. That’s how the broken spoke was discovered in Green Bay! Thankfully we were a few short blocks from a bike shop.
I hope Dodie is doing better each day.

Steve here, barging in with a comment. There is a third option for when it's raining, my favourite, and that is get the bike dirty and almost never clean it. It's a poor one, because bikes go faster and are more fun when clean.

2 years agoYou found a great way to spend a rainy day! Have a great Christmas.
2 years agoYeah for Kelly! Doing the Loop again! You are both really putting in the miles this time. Jacinto seems to be hunting for every hilly ride he can find. I imagine our biking rides will be much shorter when we get back down there as we haven't done any riding while at home and need to slowly work back up to being able to ride 40 plus miles.
2 years agoFeeling just fine. That ride was two days back, and we’ve gotten good rides in both days since then. It really didn’t bother me at all.
2 years agoThis year is the only year I managed to ride my age in miles on my birthday - totally by accident! We were on tour, as we usually are in July. Thus, I get what I get for mileage. This year it was perfect - 59!
How do your legs feel today, after the big effort?
We ate last night at Selena's Salvadorian Restaurant. Masks were required to enter. I haven't seen that in a year . . . maybe things are blowing up.
Nice ride! But with just two more miles you could have ridden your age in miles.

We slimed our tires on our first tour in Arizona back in 2016. After two flat tires on our way to Tombstone we dropped down Charleston Road to Sierra Vista to get slimed because it was the only bike store in the region. They slimed the tires for us, and it worked great. No rolling issues, and we didn’t have another flat on the rest of the tour.
