You're right! Looks especially bright in the gloomy light. The ortliebs have seen a few thousand kms but usually they are the brightest thing around.
2 years agoReally enjoy reading this as we rode the route the other way around a few years ago. In my journal From London to Lisbon. Was a great ride. Enjoy the hills
2 years agoThat must be an intense yellow to make those Ortliebs look so pale.
2 years agoWe have all had the WTF moments on the bike with headwinds, hills, huge rain and break downs but after a few weeks you will take this in your stride make sure you have rest days we had one every 3rd day ,we also had a rule look for backeri each morning and load up with sweet treats yum keep smiling.
2 years agoHi Sandy!
Haha, thanks as lot! If we do, we will.
Despite thinking we were quite restrained with our packing, as soon we got everything in our bags, bought food, toiletries, last minute additions, it feels like we are barely containing it all. It feels like it would be easier if we cut down but I'm not sure how! We've still got the chairs 🙂
Sounds familiar! We had to get ours from a small shop about 150 miles from where we live. Really happy with them so far, they feel a teeny bit slow but realistically, I'm sure that's a bad workman blaming his tools.
Happy cycling Lorenzo and partner I hope you make it to New Zealand, follow your dreams and look me up if you make it down under.
You won’t regret carting your Helinox chairs along I have used them on several long distance tours, just the thing for relaxing in after being hunched over the handle bars all day. Also looking forward to seeing how your Surly Bridge Club goes, I have one but haven’t ridden it yet as it’s in storage with my friend Frank in Aussie…….a Covid thing, as bikes are difficult to get in NZ. Hope to ride it before the end of the year.
Not many journals of late so looking forward to following your intrepid journey from my arm chair in NZ
Cheers
Sandy
Thanks Rachael! I was slightly torn whether to write it here or "the other place", but settled on cycleblaze for various reasons. One being I'm sure writing updates from my phone is much easier here!
2 years agoThanks Jon! I've never been so won't be able to make any comparisons, but if you have any recommendations for places you enjoyed I'd be glad of them.
Yeah, the EU visa limit was the first hard hitting consequences of Brexit... First of many I'm sure.
It’s great to have another journal. Looks like a great tour!
2 years agoThis looks great. Particularly interested in the Balkan stage and Albania - I haven't seen many trip reports from those parts, I was there (not on the bike) 18 years ago and wonder how much it's changed.
The Brexit 90-day limit for UK citizens is a real downer. If you manage to spend 90 days in the non-Schengen parts of the Balkans it resets - but it sure makes things practically more difficult.
Good to hear, thanks!
2 years agoHaha we are almost starting to enjoy them. Any particular recommendations or tips for north central and north east Spain?
