+1 on the photos and ride, Suzanne. Just so lovely.
I used to take a mudbath every now and again in Calistoga, a town north of San Francisco at the top of the Napa Valley, where there are many natural hot springs and even a geyser. You're right, it is a messy business. Amazing how mud can get into all your nooks and crannies. But that and a massage and you're good for days. But I didn't really think about how much prep is required for the mud.
Years ago I took my mother to the mudbaths. It was a new experience for her but she was usually game for anything. We were in adjoining tubs. I asked her how she liked it so far. She said, "I feel like I'm the womb, but - there you are!"
Amazing photos. My favorite, the one with the rowboats on the lake.
4 years agoStunning. If I could possibly bike around there, and especially with you, I would truly be in heaven. Spectacular photos Suzanne.
4 years agoAccording to the believable experts, it will be later in 2021 before a covid vaccine exists and has had a chance to work. Until then we can't see locking ourselves in a cigar tube airplane with 300 strangers. Like the Bartletts, we could just cycle out into Beautiful British Columbia, but you know what, faced with blogs like yours, it just doesn't much appeal. The Bartletts (bless them!) don't help by putting photos like the bakery in Lübeck into their BC journal. (Page 13: Thoughts on How We Travel).
4 years agoThank you so much, Steve! I am glad that you are enjoying my pictures. When are you two going to get to travel again?
4 years agoThere is no doubt that there is beauty to be found in almost every place. But oh my, your (well made) photos show something that is just a step beyond.
4 years agoYes, very frustrating, especially since the bike doesn't have any real granny gears to deal with climbs in case I have no or little support.
4 years agoLooks like a wonderful day. Sorry about the ebike assist issues though. Hopefully that resolves itself. I imagine being on an ebike, and then not having the assist, is very frustrating. Dealing with the extra weight, but not getting the benefit.
4 years agoHere it was downhill and I wasn't hungry yet!
4 years agoOh, I get it - bad grub! :)
4 years agoI think it’s funny that on a day without lunch you’re destined for Bad Kohlgrub.
4 years agoBetter fixings for lunch maybe? Or a fully functioning e-bike?
4 years agoThanks, Greg! So kind of you.
4 years agoI'm excited to see you and Janos out for a mini-tour. I'm not at all surprised to already be seeing your usual high-quality photos and writing. Best of luck to my favorite citizens of Germany.
