6 years agoYou gotta love those umbrellas.
6 years agoAll good excuses for not being up to date, and we are really glad that none of them involve accidents, illness, or other catastrophes.
6 years agoIt has been 3 days since you posted this entry and no new ones since. We are just wondering if things are OK ?
6 years agoReminds me of the Cinque de Terre in Italy.

6 years agoIndeed quite a twist of fate. I love the word "serendipity"...
Please do drop us a quick email so we can remain in contact. Looking forward to seeing you next year at Spezi!

Sorry about the sore bottom, Mary Ellen, but glad you did not post a picture.
6 years agoWe have found that often locals think they know where you are going based more on where most other cyclists tend to go, so they give directions that take you completely the wrong way. We tend to listen politely and nod a lot, wait until they are out of sight and go the way we want to anyway.
6 years agoWe have found that places that sell post cards often sell stamps, even for overseas. Buying stamps there can head off finding and dealing with La Poste!
6 years agoThanks for looking out for us - our big rig does have its challenges, but we love it anyway. We did ride about 10-15 km yesterday on the Canal du Midi (with some trepidation as we have read horror stories about it) but the section we rode was paved and lovely. Pretty lucky. But then today, we rode through an area south of Narbonne in a protected area along a canal, very isolated on spits which we couldn’t get out of and it wasn’t so good. But not as bad as the other day. I am glad we saw what we did today, but I would reroute another time.

Thank you Elodie. We appreciate your encouragement. It was a special day. We are now in Mantova and next is Verona. The heat is bringing thunder storms, so we choose to ride when it's good..
