A great read that made me glad to be sitting in my warm and dry living room. I love that you provide the pronunciation of the to me strange British names. Many thanks!
2 months agoThat's actually on a map? As a road?? Or was it your route planner doing it.
2 months agoThe Starcross ferry?? You'll be about a mile and a half away from a fellow cycleblazer. Let me know if you need emergency oxygen/ cream teas! PS - you'll be missing a lovely stretch of cyclepath along the Exe. If you've not done it before (?) it's worth a return trip.
Look forward to reading about the adventure...
Yep there's no escaping those contours! I might finesse the route a bit more, but I'll be surprised if I can get away with under 1000m climb a day. Will definitely be in the mood for a sit-down and a pint by the time I get there...
3 months agoDefinitely a sort of profile I recognize. I foresee a lot of pain ahead.

It is! Well, kind of. There are so many tiny lanes and what are called by the catch-all of "right of way", and the good maps show them all - even when they've become physically impassable! Believe it or not, this one was actually one of the higher level ones - a "byway", which means legally you could drive a car down here. Probably not a good idea in practice!
2 months agoThis is where I really only have myself to blame, as I hand-picked these routes off the map ... in order to ride off road. I like to avoid the traffic but this was just ridiculous.
