Carolyn van Hoeve commented on In Ferrara: a new plan slowly emerges from the fog

It's more like we got a get out of jail free card. We're so very lucky ... so far. It has been a wonderful distraction though travelling vicariously along with you on your journey. I'm sure you'll figure things out!

Yes, but what’s the other plant?

Rose hips! Good source of vitamin C.

Scott Anderson replied to a comment by Susan Carpenter on In Ferrara: the committee returns

Oh, Lordy. We’d better win alright. I’ve been meaning to congratulate you for the work you’ve been doing on voter turnout. Hope for the best!

Nope. Or if I did, I didn’t recognize it as such. The epicenter was about 800 miles away though, so bout as likely as you feeling quakes from Northern California. I see though that Greece is starting to have regional Covid lockdowns though, so there’s another reason we’re as well off coming home. Darn it.

Did you feel any of the shaking from the earthquake in Greece/Turkey earlier today?

Susan Carpenter commented on In Ferrara: the committee returns

I echo what the others have remarked re the difficulty and soundness of your decision. I am also wishing for healthy outcomes for everyone - for your shoulder, for Shawn's operation, and for people everywhere facing this COVID surge. And I'm also fervently, and nervously, wishing for an election outcome that begins healing the American partisan divide. What very strange times these are!
Hoping your return to Portland goes smoothly and safely.

Great that you were still able to vote despite all of the sudden changes.

And thanks for filling us in on how it works!

Good point about the envelope. I deleted it.

In my state, we don't have the online option. And that secrecy envelop gets stuck in another envelope to get mailed back, so it's not visible. I don't know if I'd be comfortable making my voter id public. That number, along with a few other bits of fairly public information about me, would be enough for someone to go into our voter registration website and chance my voter information.
Glad you got to vote! Now fingers crossed we all survive from Nov 4th
until Jan 20th.

Very very pleased that you got your vote done just keeping our fingers crossed that there will be a huge turn out of voters but feel a bit worried about the electoral college system

Scott Anderson replied to a comment by Patrick O'Hara on In Ferrara: the committee returns

Thanks, Patrick. It’s obviously the right thing to do, but we’re sorry to be leaving right now, when the weather has really turned fine here for awhile. The next ten days look like fine cycling weather here, far nicer than it looks back home. It’s deteriorating so quickly though - even Greece has started imposing regional shutdowns.
