Why do those things always happen to you! That must have been a harrowing finale at the airport. Glad you made it home in one piece. Looking forward to your continuing journal. Even if it's just about trees. Trees are nice, but I'll miss your visits to the beautiful cities along the Po.
4 years agoGlad to hear that you arrived safe at home. Hopefully, your 'home' will be a lot safer after the 3rd. The hosers up here in Canada are hopeful. Fingers crossed.
4 years agoIt's a classic Nanci Griffith. 1987, but there are earlier, better, slightly slower versions of this.
4 years agoWhat a beautiful song! I’ve never heard this one. She’s so young!

4 years agoWelcome home! Glad to hear you're going to keep this journal going.
4 years ago9 or 10 hours of jet lag is a pain! Hope you get over it quickly. They told us it takes a day for every hour when I did a lot of it. Rest well!
4 years agoWelcome home!!
Glad you had some friendly faces to greet you when you arrived.
Thanks for the excellent morning reading during your journey!
Look forward to reading about your Portland adventures .. and hopefully a Covid-safe gathering in the not-too-far future!
Happy to hear that you made it home. Travel days are a necessary evil but this one's behind you now. We really enjoyed vicariously travelling along with you on this trip. Some outstanding places you got to and as always, beautifully described in prose and displayed in pictures.
Look forward to your next trip.
We have a constant parade of ghouls and goblins, ninjas and princesses at the door. It is a beautiful evening here and we weren’t sure what to expect but the kids are out in droves and having so much fun. It is very uplifting, although we may run out of candy!! I am rereading your last few entries between groups of trick or treaters and thinking you might be in the air. Safe travels and soft landings if that is the case. I am voting with Carolyn that you continue your journal.
4 years agoYes agreed, any win that is enough to avoid the Supreme Court will be a huge cause for celebration. I hope you are able to continue with a journal when you're back in Portland. I think we've all become too invested with your story now (well, speaking personally). There was an interesting story in the Guardian this morning about an English couple that moved to Portland a few years ago and their story about being there. Safe travels !
4 years agoThanks Carolyn, and thanks again for joining us on this adventure. We can’t wait for Tuesday - it feels like we’ve been holding our breaths for months now. Overwhelming support would be the ideal of course, but a thin win is fine too as long as the country doesn’t erupt in a civil war.
4 years agoWatch this space, but not this specific post. A better photo of Plant B will be coming.
4 years agoGood luck with your journey home and sorry you had to cut the trip short but sounds like the right decision. All eyes on your country this week and hoping that as in our country people overwhelmingly make the right choice.
