These are all so cool!!
I could see myself taking dozens of photos here.
If you have a chance to go back, I'll bet the GBO would love to pose with one of these fine pieces.
Looks like a great city to walk around .. and I think it's a sign of good luck to capture a happy youngster holding colourful cotton candy.

Love the sound of this device and its visually appealing and seemingly simple* design.
*"Simple" here is not meant to imply I would ever attempt to build one.
Seems like the variability in volume, pitch, and speed would make the klopotec pretty effective in keeping the birds away.
Not that I’ve noticed, but I’ve been more focused on signs for suckling pigs and produce. I’ll start keeping an eye out. There are a few guest houses listed on Booking that look very nice, but they’re more like farm homes out in the country.
4 years agoNice to show you something new bout your adopted continent! And thanks for the new word, diacritical.
4 years agoGood point. It’s a strange looking language alright, and it’s not just the letters with markings. I’ll put together a brief pronunciation legend so people can sound these places out when they read them.
4 years agoNow if we just knew how those names are pronounced . . . . .
4 years agoIn the smaller villages do you ever see places where tourists can stay?
4 years agoYou give us reasons to wager bets, Scott, and in the time of Covid you are helping to keep our lives interesting. Glasses? Shirt? Camera? Computer? So many reasons!

4 years agoI'm so impressed with how your Croatian is coming along.
4 years agoGlad to hear the drivers are courteous and that bicycles are common!
4 years agoI had never heard of wind-rattles before - interesting!
And I am very impressed that you are carefully observing the diacritical marks when writing the names of places!
I’d say light green and blue are the most common vehicle types here, in addition to an assortment of farm vehicles. On the backroads they’re generally small, but they won’t seem quite so because the road is small too. More importantly though, they’re generally courteous. It seems like they’re no stranger to bikes.

Are you sure you are not in the Croatian village section of Universal Studios in L.A.? Did you even leave the U.S.?
