It's no use, Ron. The Anderson birds summer in Europe now with only brief stopovers here.
1 year agoYow! I wonder if they ever miss? It sounds like a Monty Python scene.
1 year agoWood duck houses are big wooden boxes with a big hole in them. It's so funny to watch wood ducks enter them. There is no perch outside the hole because they don't want one. They fly 30mph directly into that hole. Amazing.
1 year agoNo, I missed it. That was where I was aiming for when I ended up at the Sweet Springs Preserve actually, but I drove right past it.
1 year agoDepending on weather, we are planning on doing the bluff trail tomorrow.
Have you guys been to Los Osos State Natural Area? It's in town on Los Osos Valley Road. It's spectacular, with hundreds of ancient Coastal, Live and other Oaks. Amazing and free. It's a flat 30 minute experience and totally worth it.
Those are very similar to my MT7 shoes, which I find great for cycling.
1 year agoYes we were still in Portland. We used it frequently on one of our training routes up the cemetery hill. Didn't get to watch them move the old one though.
1 year agoWere you in town when it was being built? I remember watching the day the old span was lifted and moved north to the temporary piling that supported it while the new bridge was built.
1 year agoThis reminds me of the day about 40 years ago when I biked over to visit Elizabeth when we were both living in Salem. When I arrived she was in a panic wondering what to do about the flicker perched on top of her curtain rod. It must have fallen down the chimney and come in through the fireplace somehow. It was great fun using a broom to steer it out the front door.
1 year agoThere is a flicker in our neighborhood that has decided he/she/they wants/want to set up residence in the rafters of some of the houses. It pecks at the wood around the metal vent, apparently trying to gain entrance.
A couple people have put up shiny streamers to dissuade the bird, and we installed a big, scary beach ball with eyes. Not sure it's working.
This answers my question from the previous post.
1 year agoWe lived in suburban Denver (motto: Concrete, Smog and Goose Poop!) for about a year and a half and had the same experience- goose poop everywhere. Sidewalks, grassy areas, parks, everywhere.
1 year agoThat's a well-designed bridge.
1 year agoSad they closed. What coffee shop do you and Bruce go to? Jen and I were trying to remember when we were staying at Andrea's.

Plus, if they wanted you off their land they wouldn't be carrying guns in Britain.
