Is it maybe a Harris's hawk?

Those things are nasty and stickery! I remember one tour when the wind was blowing them into our legs. You have all the makings of a tumbleweed snowman!

Yep - we had lots of these in camp. They were such bullies to the other birds, even trying out the hummingbird feeders!
2 years agoI do too. I was surprised at how well this came out, because the light wasn’t the best. He’d be more iridescent from a different angle.
2 years agoWow! What a shot and a find while biking! I had a difficult time taking pictures of the ones at our feeders as they kept moving. In for a sip, then gone. Do you know the type it is? We had Anna's and Black-chinned ones at the park.

Love the pics, Scott! I'm so jealous. I'm already tired of the cold here. How long will you be in Tucson? We're actually headed down there again next month. Don got 10 days at Catalina SP which is unheard of at the last minute. Maybe we can hook up on the trail somewhere if you're still in town. Although we'll be a ways from you guys in the park.
