I actually like this sign better than the Canadian one, which shows a car beside a cyclist close enough for the cyclist to touch it if he/she straightened their left arm.
Better yet are the signs prescribing a safe passing distance of 1.5 metres (5 feet) in the jurisdictions having safe passing laws.
Harris' antelope squirrel.
We had closely related white tailed in CA when I was a kid. Made fun pets if rescued from dogs or whatever when babies. One we had for a few years lived in our garden and in our house. It actually played with our dog.
Most are reluctant to have humans nearby.
I think westbound is better too, although riding eastward you get great views of Lemmon staring you in the face. Among other things, it places you on the west side of Twin Peaks Road, which has a separated bike lane most of the way down.
Navigation is pretty easy, once you’ve got it down. You’re on the south side of Tangerine all the way to Thornydale where you have to cross over at the light to the north side.
Your loop is Jan's favorite ride. She always starts it heading west so she rides over I-10 going downhill. I rode that loop one time and found the I-10 crossing intimidating - I had no issues - but that was a LOT of cars at once! Downhill would be better.
2 years agoThe mural on that building was the graphic for the Tour de Tucson bicycle ride this year. I'm not a jersey wearer, or even a t-shirt wearer, but I surely wanted that mural as a poster! I went so far as to go to the website after the tour was over to see if I could buy a top of some sort. No . . .
Ah, yes, your intended purpose - the mountains are indeed striking!
I really like those blades too. If you zoom in you’ll see that the blade is/was branded with the name of the town.
2 years agoThis was lucky alright. I’ve got many examples of feet or tail feathers, with the rest of the bird outside the frame. I’ve finally learned to back off the zoom and capture a larger field.
2 years agoYes, and nice that it didn’t end in tragedy.
2 years agoI had the same thought and almost said something. I wonder how much water loss they’d save by capping the channel.
2 years agoAnother composition I really like.
The descending tanks coupled with the dilapidated blades ... I might call it Running on Empty.
OMG, what a moment to capture!
I can imagine that this position only lasts a fraction of a second.
I really like the simplicity of this photo.
Airstream, Cyclist, and Mountain.
Wow!
I wonder what the ADE (Average Daily Evaporation) is?
Interesting! History is sometimes hard to research.
