Hey Scott & Rachael!
Glad you're where you are right now and not in south west France. Your itinerary is working out well. Meanwhile I'm having fun plotting our tour in September including some of your great suggestions. Stay cool and try to avoid those 15%+ climbs!

Thanks, Dave. I’ve been worried about those poor TDF riders. We’re fine though. We’re just north of the worst of it and it ‘only’ hit 95 here today, which is still pretty unprecedented for the Yorkshire Dales. We beat the heat today, getting out the door at 5:30 and getting back before it got too warm. It’s all passing as we speak though and it’s quite comfortable this evening.

Take care in the extremely hot weather. I see the Tour de France riders are wearing cooling vests pre and post rides, ice on the back of their necks and some even put ice in their socks!

I'd rather have bees.

I'm glad that car didn't get any closer to you, Rachael, and that you are all right. Very unnerving for sure. But, your choice of music for your excellent video was perfect. I love all the bees visible. All I can think of is that there must have been a bunch of bee hives in the area. I've been in their flight path like that before.

I can recommend it. Practice it in case you find yourself in a similar situation. I hear they have cows down your way too.

BJ and I are still laughing about Streets of Laredo. Situational singing.

No big deal. Just watch your step. The Paul Simon song Slip sliding’ Away does come to mind though.

It's not the cows that bother us but the little brown splat they leave behind!

You’ve right about going over the what if scenarios. What I did learn is to be very cautious on winding roads. It seemed like other roads where there wasn’t any traffic but unfortunately that wasn’t the case. I’m enjoying taking hikes on our layover days!

Oh my goodness. What a scare. It is hard not to think of all the ‘what if’ scenarios in the immediate aftermath. We are so grateful you are okay.

Gives a pleasant softness to the image.

That’s a nice observation. It does have that look. I was really pleased at how well my humble iPad camera did with this.

I admit o feeling entitled. Its the same thing with food - a big plus with bike touring is you can eat whatever you want.
