When I get behind one of these things, I call it "tractor-pacing". It's a common occurence here, especially now that the fall grape harvest has started. Nothing better then following a trailer full of wine grapes down the road. Smells great!

Scott, looking at that picture of you riding from behind sparked a question in my mind. Do you think your derailleur problem could be caused by having the panniers on the bike? I was thinking you had a bent derailleur hanger, but that would show up with the bike on a stand. Is it possible that your right-hand rear bag is pushing on a cable or cable housing somewhere? Easy enough to test I guess - just try riding in your lowest gear without panniers.

Mysterious is the right word for it, alright. You really have to keep a flexible attitude and philosophical mindset.

Yes, the water and reflection stunned me when I rounded the corner and saw this ahead. I had no idea there was a dam beneath until writing the post later.

It does, doesn’t it? We should just stay home!

I love the mystery of the silverware and how mysterious aging is. This morning I went to the grocery to buy peaches and nectarines because they were on sale. I found something else on sale and after I had been home awhile I remembered why I had gone to the store in the first place. So, I went back to get some peaches and nectarines.

It reminds me of eastern Washington state.

I love the bridge, the concept of a dam below it, the countryside but I especially love the color the water is reflecting.

Angie’s? I see she offers tea cakes and insults. A shame we missed it, I could have used an insult.

Unsophisticated knitter here and have no idea really. Google shows 11 black faced breeds, with names suspiciously similar to the area in which you're traveling.

I guess you haven't found Annie's cafe - I was there in June.
