Hi Robyn
Thanks for the info'. I did take a couple of snaps of the runners through some trees and may now post one on this page.

It's good to have a focal point when cycle touring and I imagine you've met some nice, friendly people while doing a parkrun.

South Wales is a really nice place and there's no doubt you'd enjoy it. It's a long flight though!

Hi,
I watched the clip you recommended. Thanks. Your experience with the antique dealer is about what I would have expected, especially when walking into his church-cum- shop. People like that don’t sell much because everything they own is overvalued in their own minds. I’ll bet his own house displays the same hoarding tendencies.
Liberty and Co. is the nec plus ultra for collectors of A &C . Not that I could afford the prices that it goes for. I have made my own furniture in the arts and crafts style, but mostly borrowing from American designers. Wood is cheaper than finished furniture, and I can adapt a design ( or make my own) to fit my needs or the space I have available. There’s a photo of my living room in Susan Carpenter’s journal, if your interested . To Dijon is the name of the page.
Have you found any interesting pots recently? Thinking about that hoarder’s shop, I’ll bet there’s at least one or two nice items in there if a: one could find them and b: get them for a reasonable price.
Drink another beer for me. I’ll pretend I’m tasting it!
Cheers,
Keith

I'm not sure if you ever watch this series linked below... I went to the old church in Builth. You can see the place and a nice Arts & Crafts bench that was there...

Yes... Welsh is promoted a lot and is spoken by many.

Thanks - the colour wasn't quite right in the low light and it seemed easier to just flick them to monochrome.

Nice use of black and white for portraits!

If you can believe it I misspelled it when I entered the Welsh word. So now I know how to say and spell cuckoo. Once I got straightened out I’ve been saying cwrw all day.

The second pint was for you!

Hi,
I don’t care how you say it, I just want one! Really, though, your tour reminds me of the good things Britain has to offer. The sad part is, even if I had access, I still couldn’t drink that lovely cwrw. My current meds make my stomach a bit too sensitive, damn it. Old age is not for the faint of heart.
Cheers,
Keith

See if you can manage it there's an audio option below the Welsh word....

Hi Graham
I'm enjoying reading your journal from the other side of the world. When you left your hotel in Llanelli and stumbled upon a bunch of runners in the park behind, it must have been 9am on a Saturday...because that's when parkrun takes place in the UK. Your description of the runners, some unsure (first timers), some slow (walkers or joggers), was spot on. Parkrun is a worldwide phenomenon that started in the UK. It's not a race but a community of runners, walkers and joggers who do a timed 5km at their own pace each week. Mad keen parkrunners like me also like to combine cycle touring and parkrun touristing around the world. It's a great combo and makes trip planning easy - we just need to get to a parkrun event location by 9am (or 8am in NZ) each Saturday. I haven't yet got to Sandy Water, Llanelli, but I'd like to!
