There is a CCC Museum at North Higgins Lake State Park. It has a self guided tour explaining how they did what they did (planted millions of trees) and how they lived ( para-military campers). Amazing!

You should not need duct tape for a long time to come with a set of Ortliebs.

My Mom loves to look at pictures, but unfortunately it is too complicated for her to read ( maybe fortunately in this case :-)).

I also thought they allowed cyclists on the Mackinac bridge once per year, but the driver of the shuttle said they no longer open the bridge for cyclists. They still have an annual event for pedestrians to cross the bridge.

I think you should try to get a few more hundred miles out of THAT tire... get your money's worth!

That wear in maybe 2,000 kms makes me think that the tyre was defective with the tread lifting like that.

When Alain was a young man he hitchhiked all over the world. He made it sound like fun, but I was sure he had experiences that would have crisped my hair if I'd heard about them. however, he was tactful enough not to tell them to his mother. I feel sure he would NEVER mention that a truck forced him into a ditch.Vita, does your mother read this?

Mario an I drove around Lake Superior ten or eleven years ago. We loved Marquette and Duluth. We saw an ore carrier (don't know if it was Kaye) being loaded from gondolas in the same way. And Duluth was hilly. It was scary to drive in

I'm not a floriculturist, but I do recognize that as foxglove (Digitalis).

We carry electric tape, but I guess we should upgrade to duct tape.
I'm not familiar with Ortlieb, but we'll take a look at them. Thanks for the suggestion.

You should always carry a small roll of duct tape.
Have you considered Ortlieb panniers?
