It’s unfortunate that this is now just for private affairs as it has a marvellous amphitheatre with a cenote at the back of the stage!

That’s not wallpaper, it was hand painted by a famous local artisan to match the original wall paint. It was taken him several years to proceed through each room!

It was great to spend time with you two! Safe journeys, especially near Muna!

I love eavesdropping on the consultations of experts...

This is advanced territory - well beyond our child's book of Yucatan birds. But oh oh, this is already our double back. Should we triple back?

Could be. There’s just not enough evidence here to be conclusive, unfortunately. The Grampies are just going to have to double back.

Well, I did look at that too, but just couldn't quite connect. I still think maybe olivaceous woodcreeper due to coloration. Beak on the photo is indistinct, and possibly partly tree twig.

Hi Dodie & Steve, looks like you are having a nice tour. Glad your assist is working. But sorry to hear about flat tires. I feel for you. No matter how many spare tubes I take I end up using them all & then buying more on line! Hahaha! That heat saps your energy! Have a nice remainder of tour!

Looks right to me, along with the behavior - they spend a lot of time on the ground, apparently. What a funny name though!

I don’t think the bill looks right for a woodcreeper. Maybe a rose-throated tanager? https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/728682-Piranga-roseogularis-cozumelae/browse_photos

You gave us your "two cenotes worth" today! :-)

I'll guess maybe an olivaceous woodcreeper?

Nice shot! Buteos (large hawks like this) are so hard to identify though because the same species can have so many different colorations. My guess, mostly just from the range maps, is that it’s a red-tailed hawk, the same species we commonly see back home.

Everybody brought their flip-flops, no problem, and tee shirts! I asked the guy if next he would want to ban my cloth swim shorts. But I lack the Spanish to really push these brilliant quasi-legal notions!
