Sage. scrub, hills, cloudless blue skies... there's nothing like the west for scenery.

Walk that sucker for sure, and CAREFULLY at that! Wow. But I bet it's effective in its intended purpose

It looks like that enclosure would turn into a soupy muddy mess after a rain. There must be cattle in that barn, to so thoroughly remove any trace of greenery.

I was kayaking on the Potomac last week and watched one sail out from the trees, swoop low over the water, grab for a moment at an unseen quarry, and return to the trees. It happened four or five times in just a couple minutes but was too far away for a photo. By the time I got close enough for a chance the bird had stopped and disappeared from emy field of view.

Oh. Thanks for the context. I hadn’t even thought of it that way, but of course it’s a common and repellent sight south of the border too. With that broom and coloring, I was thinking it was a quaint fire engine.

One of the many detriments of the "Freedom Convoy" last year was their adoption of our common flag for their particular political slant. Now when we see too overt a display of the flag we feel not proud but ill.

I felt the same way. I was watching this bird fly out and back from the wire for several minutes hoping he’d get close enough for a good shot. Lucky.

Now this feels like a real score.

I love that area, and totally agree on the diversity, wow.

My goodness, the tree assortment (depending on which side of the slope they're on) is identical to my hometown in Montana, this could be Highway 2 between Libby and Kalispell, with the occasional rock outcropping and hayfield. It gave me a startle.

Oh! I didn’t realize I’ve never published our fall Spain itinerary. It’s all planned and booked, but I’m not sure when I’ll publish it. Maybe on a slow news day.

Yes it’s good news on your surgery date. And exciting plans for the new year!

It will be good to have the surgery done, and look forward.

When do we get to see what seven weeks in Spain looks like?

Aw, c’mon. Just peddle a little faster.

Yes, they do. This species summers here but winters in South America, migrating as far as northern Argentina.

One of the nice things about kingbirds is that they’re easy to spot and identify - larger and more colorful than the other flycatchers, and not as shy.
