Sorry. Can’t answer that here of course, as it would ruin the suspense. Watch for information through courier pigeon.

What days are you planning on being here, there are plenty of hiking trails, and the Boise Green belt to cycle…so stay long.

Let’s really confuse the issue with Aspen Poplar: https://plantwatch.naturealberta.ca/choose-your-plants/aspen-poplar/index.html

I’ll add that when I lived in Prince George, there were trees we called poplars but never aspen.

I love Minnesota, especially the north. It's so sad about the birch trees dying. I like Oregon too, where I have lived for the past 40 years! But I still miss many aspects of Minnesota like all the lakes and canoe country. And Lake Superior is one of the most amazing things on earth.

If you didn’t want to be bossed around, why did you get married? :)

Short recaps are good, too. Can't believe your Canada trip is almost over!

Look for the eyes in the bark. When you see them, and they see you, it's aspen.

I just looked up your Amiens/Beauvais entry and we're booked in the same Hotel de la Cathédrale in Beauvais. Happy to read you rated it highly. The ride looks gorgeous except we're doing it in reverse. I'll know to avoid that bit of rough track you encountered. I've just realised much of our trip is heading into the prevailing wind. Darn it. Here's hoping for light winds and some of that TA sunshine.

As a fellow Minnesotan, and one born and bred in the north of the state, I also grew up calling them poplars. Quite abundant. Birch have declined rather a lot I think. Most stands are Aspen I guess.

Definitely worth a road trip. September would be perfect.
