As a kid in Mojave, that would have been a superhighway for my bike! The normal was double track abandoned stagecoach route/jeep trails that turned into sand swamps at the bottom of every ravine. Either that or Sierra Highway with its 6 inch shoulder to the right of the white line.

You have a very good eye, Rachael, I enjoyed 'hiking' along with you.

Fire? Lighting? Why are those trees so black?

Thanks. I was really pleased with it, and amazed that it sat still long enough for a good shot.

What a beauty, and such a lovely shot. Well worth the wait and very deserving of the coveted #200 spot.

What a spectacular hike. So different to what I am used to.

Looks like a great hike …. A little hot at the end of it?

"There’s probably something worth seeing around that bend."

Words to live by, no matter where you find yourself. That's why I go on bike tours, of course.

Keep an eye peeled for Greg Garceau- he's known to frequent roads like that one. You never know where or when he'll turn up.

But not horrid-looking, at least from that vantage point and the comfort of my office chair and computer screen. They make excellent defense against airborne Rockydarts®️.

How do you feel about learning Spanish? Might be the determining factor...

Google guesses "Meadow thistle":

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cirsium_scariosum

but doesn't include Spain in its native range. Could easily have been introduced, of course. I'm not particularly confident in my diagnosis but didn't find many other credible candidates in my ten minutes of dilatory searching.

Judging by the character of the earth, it looks like "Rocky's World".
