I'm in!
11 months agoEasy call. Boof, or course. We’re going to start billing ourselves as a comedy team, Scooter and Boof.
11 months agoI know more now, enough to decide it doesn’t sound scary so I’ll probably give it a try one of these days. I’ve learned that this is the site of an old creosote factory, and the primary concern is with the soil and its effect on water quality. It’s part of the Portland Harbor Superfund Site. If I don’t eat the dirt or drink the water I should be OK.
11 months agoThat's great. I forgot about that episode.
11 months agoDental work, eh? I don't know, sounds a little witch-doctory. I always think of the Seinfeld episode where Jerry goes to the dentist, goes under anesthesia, and as he groggily wakes up he thinks he sees the assistant and dentist getting dressed.

"I was rinsing and spitting like there was no tomorrow!"
Hahaha!!!!
11 months agoIt only seems appropriate that a guy with the nickname 'Boof' (I prefer Mr. Boof) would give you a booty look.
Although, the situation you described makes me wonder who is the boofiest of the duo(?)
I suppose if you had the right impermeable to toxic waste boots and a hiking stick?
11 months ago"Rachel's daily dozen or so" would be a major event for us but it's just another day in Rocky World. Amazing.
11 months agoYup. I saw that myself after this but didn’t take the next step to research under that name. It belongs to the Portland Parks & Recreation department so maybe there’s the thought that it could be a park someday years in the future. I found a health assessment from about fifteen years ago (spoiler alert: it’s not healthy).
It’s the site of a former creosote plant, and it’s part of the Portland Harbor Superfund Site that covers the lower six miles of the Willamette River. There’s a multi decade, multibillion dollar project to cleanse this whole stretch of the river from the results of industrial activity on the harbor.
RWGPS Cycle Map does call this "Harbor View Property"
11 months agoRight, a Formosa mountain dog. Kat and Willie got her as a rescue dog shipped over from Taiwan. She had grown up in a garbage dump and had all sorts of fears. Kat and Willie have worked really hard at giving Tiva a great life. She still hides when she hears garbage trucks.
11 months agoGreat idea. Another alternate title: Boof Rides Again!
I grew up with my father telling us we most certainly had Ojibwe blood, not a lot of it but some. He had no proof, however, and then a few years ago my brother did the ancestor testing thing and alas, no native blood. Not a drop. I thought for sure my love of canoeing was in my blood.
More beautiful pictures, Scott! Thanks for the information on your camera.

Too bad! That "park" had so much promise on Google Maps.
11 months agoI remember this exchange:
Scott - "So, two weeks left."
Me - I stare
Scott - "Less than two weeks."
Me - I stare harder.
Scott - Ponders
Me - "And you're our ride to the airport this Sunday?"
