Steve Miller/Grampies commented on a photo in Valencia day 2: back to La Albufera

It is better by far to have the rain and cold weather gear and not need it, than to need it and not have it.

She looks familiar because she is, the most widely distributed butterfly species on earth, Vanessa cardui, or Painted Lady.

Anti-erosion stuff. We used it for trails where it got squishy. Usually well covered but eventually the top layer gets worn away.

It looks like an (unsuccessful) method to retain the surface so it doesn't erode during rain runoff events.

Ha, a rare Eurovelo 8 sign and proper route. They are truly few and far between. We have had dreadful experiences the last few days with Eurovelo 8 and honestly are ready to give it the push.

Nice catch of the yellow foot! They always seem submerged.

Thanks, Susan. It’s gradually sinking in that we’re really heading back so soon. It’s been a really rewarding tour, one I have mixed feelings about seeing the end of.

Congrats on completing another wonderful TA tour - and for enticing us with new routes and landscapes to explore. Enjoy your days in Valencia and safe travels back to Portland.

I love that it is a human face divided in two.

For me, much more impactful than a landscape mural painted the same way.

It gives me a bit of an existential jolt!

Nope and it looks pretty darn amazing.

Actually I was being serious! Your ability to fall in love with these little towns resonates with the romantic in me.

Agree about Seaside and Redmond, though...and maybe La Jonquera near Figueras. :)

Sounds like you’re trying to find a nice way of saying I’m undiscriminating. I do have some standards though. I’m not really keen on Seaside or Redmond, for example.
