Thanks, Patrick. The flight wasn’t that bad relly - I was just due to whine about something. The cold though! That is worth whining about.
1 year agoWelcome back. Great journal and photos as usual. I'm sure you're not used to the nip in the air today. Sorry to hear about the less than smooth travel day. All the best on November 1st! Hope you get a big thumbs up from your cardiologist.
1 year agoHmmm, guess I'm the outlier here who has had good experiences with Condor, but I have not flown them since before Covid.
Enjoyed following along when I had the time to read journals. You've provided plenty more "must see" locations for bicycle travel.
Another great journal Scott with some absolutely amazing photography. All the best with your upcoming procedures. Take care.
1 year agoWe could be meeting in Spain? I’d better send you our draft itinerary. We’ll be looking for a flight as soon as my cardio guy gives me even. Partial thumb up.
1 year agoNo, but it looks great, doesn’t it? I think these are old railroad ties. It’s not a biking path though of course. I just walked out looking for birds.
1 year agoThanks for the tip, Marilyn. Funny timing. I was looking at flights to Barcelona this morning, where we hope to start spring’s tour from. The most attractive option goes through LA and flies Iberian, and I wondered what that would be like.
1 year agoIt has that look alright. I’m assuming it’s a remaining instance of what was once a common form of structure here. A museum piece.
1 year agoCropped, enlarged, and played with exposure settings to try to get all the information I could. The main problem was the lighting, actually. From what I could see it was just some little brown shorebird until I learned more.
1 year agoOur lane was just as coarse, but it was fine. Actually these are some of the best roads in my view - left behinders that have been superseded by newer, more direct highways. Paved enough to be comfortable, and it’s all ours. I don’t think we saw a car in either direction for the next five miles.
1 year agoCongrats on another great tour and arriving home safely! I would add the Los Angeles airport to your list of how they handle those that are transferring planes. We've just returned for a 2 week Mediterranean cruise and flew from Madrid to LA then on to Phoenix. What a nightmare! Super long flight - on Iberia - the food was horrid. Once in LA we had to deplane, go through customs which had a long long line, then pick up our checked bag. Then we had to drop off that bag in another location where it disappeared into the bowels of the airport (we hoped we would see it again), exit the airport, walk outside to get to our next terminal, go back through TSA - another line and checks, then find our next flight's gate which was a long walk to the other end of the airport. We barely made that flight even though we had a 2 hour layover. Sheesh! I sure don't ever want to do that again!
1 year agoNot such a great riding surface...
1 year agoSeeing the pixellation in this image, I infer you were at the maximum extent of your camera's zoom range, and that you then cropped and enlarged the image substantially to reveal the object of the picture. You must have really sharp eyes to have seen that from quite a distance away.
1 year agoTriple up on that thatch and this place wouldn't look out of place in Scandinavia, Iceland, or Greenland.

Welcome back, you two!
1 year agoOnly 11 (right?) more days until we see you. 🙂
