I didn’t see it either. Climbing up Montjuïc is one of the things I remember doing in Barcelona.

I’m really surprised I’ve never heard this before. It’s such an uplifting story about man’s quest for knowledge. And it makes me rather sad too, living by comparison in an age when we seem to be throwing away the value of science and knowledge. It feels like we’re willfully driving ourselves back into the Dark Ages.

Yeah, I was shocked too when I did some research on it. The reason I did some research was because I didn't see how Bill could be right on this one!

Isn’t he though? He’s an introduced species, from sub-Saharan Africa. He’s established himself in. Number of places around the world including spots in southern Spain and Portugal, apparently when pets have escaped or been released into the wild.

From Wikipedia: "The Casa Lleó Morera is a building designed by noted modernisme architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner, located at Passeig de Gràcia 35 in the Eixample district of Barcelona. In 1902 Francesca Morera assigned Lluís Domènech i Montaner to remodel ancient "casa Rocamora", built in 1864. She died in 1904, and the building was named after her son, Albert Lleó i Morera. The building is located on the corner of Carrer del Consell de Cent, and is one of the three important buildings of Barcelona's Illa de la Discòrdia ("Block of Discord"), and it is the only building of the block awarded Barcelona's town council's Arts Building Annual Award (Concurso anual de edificios artísticos), obtained in 1906."

The phonograph as shown was invented by Thomas Edison in 1877, so maybe it was old tech before being carved on this building.

That’s exactly what I said to myself. Who cares if everybody’s seen it by now, it’s still amazing.

It’s also interesting that it was pretty much out of town when it was started, if I remember correctly.

It’s the pines here. They’re an almost iridescent green.

You’re entitled to a second guess here, Bill. Sorry I wasn’t clearer, but these are from the trees in the photo above. Pretty impressive pokeweeds if that’s what they are. Pokeweed on steroids!
