Bill Shaneyfelt commented on a photo in Chilling out in Figueres

Wondering the significance of the lobed golden ball seen on the roof-line, war memorial and now down here...

Repetition usually hints at importance. Or at least that is what they said when I was in school.

Oh dear! I hope you can work out the kinks and soreness.

Im familiar with what you’re talking about. Portland is. Crow magnet and there’s a big migration with thiusands of them streaming into the city at the end of the day and out again in the morning. Personally I really like it but there’s no doubt it’s a mess if you’re unlucky enough to live under one of their trees.

That’s interesting. We’ve seldom biked in Germany, but it doesn’t sound like what I see here. Cultural differences maybe, but I’ll keep an eye out for counterevidence here.

Yes, but only in a very general sense. The size, shape, density and materials all affect the pitch and quality of a bell, and churches with multiple bells like this have bells on different pitches that are in tune with each other.

Any idea why the bells are of different shapes and sizes?

Wish this statement about tagging was true. I was shocked in Germany a few months ago with the prolific defacing on such old and revered statues, monuments, descriptive plaques, etc. You actually had to get out your phone to read what it was “supposed” to state instead of the actual piece itself.

Thanks for the explanations and clarifications! This particular “cap” really is crown like, though.
Another SF connection was when St. Mary’s Church was remodeled in the late 1960’s the moniker was “the church looks like an agitator on the washing machine”. And, it’s white, so quite appropriate !

Better there than here! The crows roosting in the afternoon are such a menace! If only we did not have the overhanging wires they would not be a problem. They are really smart, though. Reminds me of the seagulls that hang out when it is the end of the seventh inning at Pac Bell Park ( Giants baseball) :)

Good sleuthing! And you’re right about it being. Motobecane - we went back there for lunch today and I took a closeup.

By zooming in I could just make out GAC. As best I can tell it's a Mobylette-GAC AV-27, built under license with Motobecane.

Here's a bit of history: https://www.okpoolack.com/en/blog/post/23-mobylette-gac-history-and-evolution-an-icon-of-two-wheelers
