Three, but only two that count really. There are a couple of pics in our 1997 from from Nice to Lisbon, but we were just passing through. The only previous time we actually stayed here was 7 years ago when we were here for two nights. This is by far our longest and best visit.

You might recognize it too from the Classens, who passed through here last fall.

Yes, anchovies are surprisingly big here, given how small they are. Or were in the past anyway. There are several anchovy storefronts like this in town, all looking like antiques.

The key is in my head... After years of following journals and doing nature IDs, some stuff sticks, but most just evaporates. Notice the shape of its carapace... It is quite like a turtle, and it seems to be sitting on a marble capital... :-)

I’d love to see the key you used to confirm that ID.

Looks like a marble capital turtle to me... Similar enough to a pond turtle to fit artistic license.

Is that the annoying rise?

Gosh, we stayed in beautiful Collioure in early November 2010, and it was wonderfully sunny and warm. We got our comeuppance though two days later when we headed for Ceret—just about the same route as yours in reverse—and encountered heavy rain.
