Voting! It’s hard to believe the day is here. I’ve never been more frightened by an election.
5 months agoWow. Great job, Bill. I’ve never heard of tafoni before, but not wormholes after all. Interesting article, and it makes me look again at the seam in the photo below that I almost pointed out. From the article, I wonder if it’s blue feldspar.

5 months agoFound it! Metamorphic rock with tafoni weathering.

I like this! It really does look steep. In fact though the first shot was worse.
5 months agoNice work, Scott. What a great day ride!

5 months agoThank you, Scott.. how sobering!
The art piece sort of fits this description of what occurred then.
Good climb, Scott! That's not an easy hill to get up on a bike!
5 months agoNice shot! I just checked back into my photo library and I took the exact same shot when we visited (by moped) in 1980. The monastery was in much worse shape back then. In my shot, there was still some residual plaster on the walls, but otherwise the tower interior looks pretty much the same! Last time we were there, the monastery was closed, so I'm having a great time comparing your photos to mine to see what's changed in 45 years.
5 months agoYou know, Azub makes a recumbent called the Origami that folds and fits conveniently in a Tern Airporter suitcase. I used one for a couple tours in Europe before switching to riding velomobile. Dual 20” wheels like your Bike Fridays and would entirely take the pressure off Rocky’s poor wrists. Just a thought. She’d probably still shoot rocky darts at you for stiff climbs though.

45 years ago! You have been coming to Europe for a long time, haven’t you? I love being able to place myself in space and time like this.
5 months agoIf it’s convenient, would you mind emailing your photo to me? I’d like to include it here.
