That is too bad. I looked at the paper but couldn’t find it.
It’s horrifying for us, but I’m sure we’re not alone around the world in reacting that way. It’s impossible to see anything good coming out of the next few years, and we really wonder what it will mean for us personally. Our plans for this year are set, but who knows - we might be knocking on your door for a chat sometime next winter.
This was such a gift. I’ll be surprised if I ever get such a good look at one again.
5 months agoI’d definitely ride 12 miles (19 km?) to see one!

5 months agoI would guess it is exactly as you said, tilting his head back and flipping it in, in a wink of an eye.
5 months agoKen and I really feel for you. It is not only Americans who are devastated here in New Zealand we feel for you. I think the cartoon in todays NZ Herald says a lot. Our very best wishes for the rest of your life
Frustrating I can’t work out how to put a photo of the cartoon on a comment
That was my reaction too. Made my week.
5 months agoWhoopee! What a shot!
5 months agoI think so! I’m starting to believe in it too. I don’t think I’ll pick much if anything from Spain before we leave, but was surprised when I put together a list of what’s still possible back home. I was surprised to see there are between 30 and 40 species I can hope to see when we get back.

You're going to make it to 300!
You are some of the lucky ones, without the ties of real estate to keep pulling you back unless you want to be back. And yes, that Hoopoe is a beauty. Glad your day had something wonderful in it.
5 months agoIt is all so incomprehensible. It feels like we’ve lost our home and like we’ve never fully understood it. On the plus side, our decision to sell our home and go migrant seven years ago looks better every year. We’re personally fortunate to have as many options as we do.
And how about that hoopoe, eh?
Our hearts break for you, our daughter in Seattle, and the sane Americans stuck on the sinking ship. It will be interesting, in a ghoulish way, to see how this all pans out.
5 months agoOh. Well, yes that looks like a mistake alright. Blame the editor.

For sure. This looks like Levi. Our little pup that you met is now fully grown (80+ pounds) and he'll be leaving us in a couple of weeks for his Service Dog advanced training. We'll miss him. Big understatement.
