I think I've figured out that you are trumpetplayers on BROL. Am I correct? I'm a RANS Stratus rider who is considering a first European tour. I keep reading of mishap after mishap of airline travel. I did buy an S & S coupled Stratus, thinking it would be easier to box - but it is still a bicycle in a bicycle box. Perhaps a bicycle in a suitcase is better? Your BROL review didn't sound quite as happy as your final page in this journal.
I'm quite sure I wouldn't like the hardshell seat, but your mesh seat appears very similar to AD Carson's mesh seat, which I love. You mention being able to take the mesh off. Could you elaborate on that?

I found this old review, saying that a mesh seat isn't an option. But the review is from 2013, so that must have changed?
I really have promised my husband a European tour, I think a suitcase bike might have less transportation anxiety. But, I'd also like a happy tour once I get there!
I'm rambling a bit - any commentary you could add would be helpful. Thanks.
Amazing, the only beaver in Germany!

3 years agoIt is heartening to know I’m not the only one that prefers not to be surrounded by raving extroverts. And loud children. My goodness. The screaming in the hostel tonight. Crazy. I had to put my earplugs in.
3 years agoThe irony here is that I live less than an hour from Wisconsin. To make matters worse, my grandfather raised Holsteins. Perhaps this is retribution for not becoming a farmer? Not that I was considering that occupation.
3 years agoYeah, Italy is an entire country of raging extroverts. I feel your pain.
3 years agoMan, you have had issues with cows this trip! Good thing you survived this encounter. I wouldn’t plan any trips to Wisconsin in the near future if I were you…

3 years agoHi Ben,
Scott pointed out your predicament to me, wondering if I had any information. I wish I could help, but the only thing I can think of is visiting the nearest Touristinformation to find out where there might be booking offices for the ÖBB. It might be difficult since this is the last week of Bavaria's school holidays and the trains might be full. Viel Glück! I hope it all works out.

Not this group. Some of the hikers probably looked at me funny, but these cows definitely were focused on munching grass and sleeping. Perhaps the jail breakers yesterday had eaten all the good grass?

Should I be suspicious of cheese and gelato as well? The cheese I could survive without, but to need to curb my gelato habit could put a damper on things here. Mr Kuhführer really was very intent on butting his way through that gate. In a war of body weight, he would have come out on top. Literally.

Yes. I am trumpetplayers on BROL and also on YouTube.
2 years agoI think my BROL review was probably before I took the origami to Italy. It is tremendously easier to move a large suitcase around an airport than a box. There is definitely some disassembly involved. I posted a link to my YouTube video on how I packed it up on BROL at one point.
The mesh seat is the AZUB trike seat. Technically it’s not meant for the origami, but it works with the origami seat mount hardware. He mesh is easy to take off. Just loosen the straps and slide it off the seat frame.
I used the Tern Airporter suitcase. Technically oversized by a couple inches, but no one would notice unless they measured it. A lot cheaper as a piece of plain old checked luggage.
