Seems like a place worthy of a second night, perhaps.

Hey, this spot! I remember it from our last pass through here: https://www.cycleblaze.com/journals/iberia2019/aguilas-e76/#19376_ilyx9z2bzl4gf1hm0w5gjl534oj

Neat bird! It’s not one I’ve seen before, and will have to watch out for next month. I don’t think it’s a bushchat though, because it’s an Asian bird. It took some research, but I think it’s a black wheatear, commonly found in Mediterranean Spain and Northern Africa.

Female or immature European stonechat?

Scott Anderson commented on Day 10: Cartagena to Puerto de Mazarron

Soon! We have to grind our way through two weeks on Mallorca first though, so be patient. When we do get there though we’ll be following a bit different route than you two - we’re going to bypass part of your coastal route by taking the suburban train from Alicante to Murcia and biking down to Mazarron from there.

Steve here. You got me. I considered getting off the bike to see and photo the plaque, but did not have the energy. I did figure I might regret it.

I was actually trying to convey how the Dutch are notoriously strict about sharing the road.. mostly when on a bicycle.
Written words don’t always “say” what is intended.. oops

Nice to have a knowledgeable source. We really enjoyed the ride today through all the interesting rock formations.
