I'm glad to see you are following along! I was going to send you an email so you did not miss all the Classen shout outs! See tomorrow's post (already posted) for us taking the bridge out of town to the bike path.

p.s. The text above does say: " The Classens went with the railway, but at the far end of the long bridge could not get to the road. So they backtracked all the way, and took the sidewalk. In a memorable summary, they said if you went right of the blue fence, you were wrong."

We rode the “sidewalk” across.

Glad you made it safely across the bridge /causeway and avoided what we did. If the other bridge exiting Huelva is now open I think you will enjoy the cycle path on the other side. You are making good progress. Safe riding!

Rorschach test! The flamingo on the right appears to have a “face” from behind.. two black dots for the eyes and pink color shading for the face. Don’t you agree? :)

Thanks for your thoughtful comment Andrea. It gave me something to think about while pedaling. I think we are sort of respectful while visiting churches - no shouting or waving banners certainly, no talking, trying to stand and sit when the others do, hat off (vs hat on, as would be demanded by my own lapsed arbitrary religion). We recognize the guest status, and usually avoid services in progress. But yes, in this case we disrespectfully crashed the party, and the truth is we have no respect for nonsense, especially when it has been used to harm people. But the buildings and art truly are tops.

p.s. I often wonder why "believers" always trust the FAA, rather than pray and believe their plane will rise into the air and stay there!

Streaky or not, it still looks like a serin. It’s just too far from the canary’s natural range, particularly now that you’ve seen two of them well apart from each other. They can’t both be accidentals, I don’t think. Just my opinion though, of course.

There’s a lot of variability in birds of the same species. Look through this gallery of serin images, a few of which look quite as yellow as your bird to me: https://www.oiseaux-birds.com/card-european-serin.html

Looked and looked, and think you are correct in Serins being streaky. Also, Canary island Serin makes a lot of sense for mainly yellow, finch beak, small bird. Going with "Canary Serin".

Agree, not an oriole. But not streaky enough for a Serin? Now very confused. Looks most like a canary but not really it's range. ??? Maybe a Serinus canaria?

Interesting. Too many horse trailers to be a coincidence. « Puddle of the mouth » sounds like drool to me.
Cheers
