A friend is a big fan of Montalbano so it can be seen here, just not sure how. I can ask though.
Sorry I haven’t finished this journal. The internet connections in Sicily were poor. So tough to finish it when we got home. One day...
Any of your choices for 2020 would be great. Puglia is calling my name, at this point.
Hi Anne
You wouldn't have seen the Inspector Montalbano series because it's never been broadcast in Canada, as far as I know. I plan to get the DVDs from the local library sometime this winter.
I'm reading through your journal again trying to decide whether it should be Sicily/Puglia or Greece or ??? next year.

So what - you’ve been storing this for a year and just post it now after we pass through the town to tweak us for not slowing down to look around here? Nice.
5 years agoI see that you were able to walk on the Turkish Steps last year. I couldn’t remember, so I went back to check. They were blocked off this year, possibly permanently? You may have been among the last that were able to experience seeing them up close.
5 years agoHi again Anne. Like Keith's comment above, my hubby and I are so enjoying Sicily through your bike trip blog and also Scott and Rachael Anderson's current one. Pictures are beautiful. We have now added Sicily to our cycling Bucket List. Thanks for all the work you do to put this blog up, even after the trip is done. It is appreciated!
5 years agoHi Sharon, thanks for the info about birds. We saw very few birds during our time there so this didn’t occur to us. Glad to jear you are enjoying the read. I really have to finish this journal....it’s now or never!
5 years agoHi Anne. I am very much enjoying your blog on your amazing trip to Sicily! The netting over the grapes provide protection from the birds. Although expensive to do, the netting works. Some areas along the Rhine River we cycled through used cannons that go off at intervals to scare the birds off.
5 years agoThis was one of my favorite days on our tour. It was great to be reminded.
I’m so glad you’re keeping at this journal, Anne; and a bit envious that you can pull it together so we’ll after the fact. Two days after a ride, it all starts blurring together for me.
Yes!
6 years agoOoh! I have to make sure Rachael sees this. We’ve talked about this dinner for two years. It’s reason enough all by itself to go back to Taormina.
6 years agoThanks for saving me some research. I was just going to reread our entry to confirm that we stayed at the Victoria also. Good choice!
6 years agoHi Keith, Glad to know you are reading along and enjoying re living some of your fond memories. I agree completely that the people we met along the way made it very special. I have many more stories to write about so stay tuned. I have to say it takes a lot longer to write this up after the fact than it did to ride it!
6 years agoI can't help but wonder why the sign would be in English!
Jacquie (who is also planning a future Sicily tour based on the Andersons')
Hi Anne,
I have been following your journal with great interest but have refrained from commenting until now. Your pictures of Siracusa are what got me, though. My wife Sue and I rented an apartment on Ortigia some (too many) years ago and it is one of our favorite places in the world. In fact Sicily in general is very high on the list of favorite places and I am really enjoying seeing it through your eyes. Yes, you have to put up with the garbage, bad plumbing, faulty electricity, etc. but the people make it so special. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers,
Keith
I'm a fan too--of the books. Actually, the audiobooks, which I download from the library. I think I've listened to 20 of them.
