Those really do look like some nice trails!
1 year agoHop on whenever you want
1 year agoLong as you stay in northern IN, it should be pretty flat. Having lived and pedaled in southern IN, it is definitely not flat. Just stay north of Indy!
1 year agoI have no good memories of the Hennepin Canal Trail east of Annawan it rained the whole time I was on it ... and there was NO place to take shelter. But then west of there it was nice. I've been looking over my Komoot maps from my 2021 trip, still thinking about joining you for the last bit ....
1 year agoI lived in Savanna, IL when The Des Moines Register organized the first RGBRAI (notic the first "A" is not included). We wondered what was up with all the bike riders coming down from north and crossing the Savanna Sabula bridge. We were transferred to KY the next spring.
By the time I had lived 2 different places and returned to Savanna in 1979, it had become "The RAGBRAI," a huge annual event!
No wonder it's so crowded.
Also, regarding your next page, I agree with your assessment of Des Moines. I rode through it on one of my solo tours and I found it to be a very cool city.
E/bikes are everywhere!!!!
1 year agoI think I remember Heather. I definitely remember Keith--if it's the same Keith who owned a bike shop in Cresco, Iowa. He was a lot of fun.
By the way, thanks for the update on Kevin. Speaking of e-bikes, are they allowing them on RAGBRAI?
Thanks.
1 year agoYep
1 year agoNo. He is workings at a bike shop in Ankeny selling e bikes. Heather/Mark/Keith are arranging things now
1 year agoThank you.

1 year agoFrom the amazing coincidence department: I rode with the Rockford Cycling group on five of my six RAGBRAIs. That would have been 2006 through 2011. Is Kevin still the man in charge?
