Not good to hear about the tubeless blow out. My bike shop talked me into tubeless a few weeks ago. But also suggested taking a tube along with me. I do think they reduce resistance though and are more comfortable. But function (in the middle of nowhere) is more important than form.

So interesting Timothy!
As you may know I’ve postponed my trip to August due to a minor health issue with my wife but I’ll be following your every pedal.
Colin sounds like a very interesting person. I’ll check to see if he and his wife are available for my trip when it happens. I have a 4x8 CNC in my basement and went through a Tool and Die Apprenticeship many years ago so we would have a lot to talk about.
Sounds like a really fun start for you!

I lucked out and found a warm showers host that also has a metal fabrication shop. The shop is called cycle blaze. Check out Colin Stevens on one of the showers.com.

Believe me the entire time it was walking up those switchbacks. I was thinking about that same thing. This time it was 100 times worse. Single track with fist size stones everywhere. Wrong turns multiple times. Trails all through the woods. Thought I was gonna die.

Me too. I really wanted to knock on the door and go in and see what was going on there. Smells fishy to me. Swedish fishy.

Camping as much as possible. No scheduled overnight campsites. Just don’t know how far I can go each day since I’m out of shape and it’s incredibly hilly here. I left the GoPro at home. Too much to bother with. I already have a phone and GPS to keep going. My bike is not electric. so I don’t think I could keep up with you. However, you are welcome to join me on all or any part of my trip. Let me know if you’re interested and I can send you an email with my ridewithgps.com routes.

Great day in the Morning Batman!!! What a great way to start. I am so jealous .... made me think of climbing out of the Ohio river valley in Steubenville .... but this sounds much much worse.
