You really know a lot about German History 👏 👏 👏
1 year agoHKW Reuter West may looks like a nuclear power plant but it was a coal-fired cogeneration power plant, closed in 2019.
1 year agoYes, and ESPECIALLY on an airplane
1 year agoLooks and sounds like a beautiful and overall enjoyable day!
1 year agoLove hearing from both of you and about the “discussion” vs. “argument” - holds true for so many couples and had me chuckling, lol ;) You are both navigating everything so well, despite the unexpected/unplanned!
1 year agoSounds like such an exciting and adventurous trip! Love seeing the maps with the routes to put it into perspective. Good luck with the trains, trains, trains, trains, trains, and ferries! I’m sure your journal will not only be entertaining, but will also help inform others who may want to tackle the same kind of trip. Have fun and be safe!
1 year agoWow! What a start to your trip! Had me both wincing & laughing :) Love how you both adapt so well to the completely unanticipated and potentially grave circumstances, and the reminder about how wonderful people really are at their core, such as Herr Staller! Kindness is universal and we all have room to extend it in our everyday, including to strangers. Hope the rest of your travels are less challenging!
1 year agoSounds so amazing and fun! Love all the history and pics. Also, want to hear more about those most delicious oysters when you get back :) Continued safe travels and adventures!
1 year agoGreat photo!
1 year agoSounds like something that would happen to us. I’m so glad you could get the key out! I hope the rest of your trip goes smoothly!
1 year agoThe city of Munich and the Tax-payers pay for the cleaning, because Pride Marches are still declared as a political demonstrations in Germany
1 year agoAm curious about what you’re hearing about the goings-on in Russia.
1 year ago(oh, only tip I would have is to tie the bikes tightly, as the rolling of the ship might knock them over otherwise. But on the Baltic routes this'll likely be much less of a problem than e.g. the North Sea)
1 year agoAs someone who has battled through long rail journeys with a loaded bike across the continent - my record was Holland to Poland in one day - I sympathise with the train difficulties. Platform changes in particular can be a nightmare. You'll have no trouble at all with ferries, I seek them out as an easier method for getting to the continent from the UK. Roll on with the traffic, tie them up where indicated (there'll be loads of space, and probably other riders doing the same) and that's it. Car decks will be closed during sailing, so no need to worry about security. It's even likely you'll get to disembark the ferry early (sometimes before the cars).
Enjoy Scandinavia, it's a great destination!
I’m so sorry about your illness, Jill. It’s something I always worry about for ourselves too. Glad to hear you’re recovering from it.
