Patrick Parno commented on Montelimar to Piolenc

hi Anne. I don't think so, but we are now inside the walled city of Avignon so can't see much of the horizon! We may get outside tomorrow to take a look around. We had dinner with Val and Greg last night - they had been staying in Bedoin and Greg rode the Ventoux with a friend. I am so glad he rode it before we hitched up, I don't think I am up for that one! You guys are a whole other level.

Are you able to see Mt Ventoux from your route? Carole K has ridden up that mountain, and so have John & I.

That's so cool that y0u know a place there to find nougat! We may check it out tomorrow if its open. Tonight we were too tired to explore much. But if you need to know a good schnapps bar in Salzburg, I'm your man!

Marjory is a bit timid on these bridges for sure, and usually walks across them. I could not believe how long this one was!

Did you hunt out any nougat in Montelimar? They have a few good places but our favourite is Savin, on the main street.

Dodie, who normally zips accross bridges with no trouble, hates this kind that feels like it sways side to side.

We are! I rode by it yesterday while looking for the funicular which I never found! Then a church Marjory has identified as a must see, then old town. Full day today!

Are you going to visit the Roman Amphitheatre in Lyons near Vieux Lyons? It's very impressive and when we were there it was set up for summer concerts. If my memory is correct there is a museum near the amphitheatre that has a beautifully preserved mosaic floor. Looks like you are having fun and enjoying the nice weather. Legacy Trail for me today!

Ah, the Rhône and the Saône, the male and female spirits of the city of Lyon. Beautiful! I’ll email you a Tom Russell tune you might enjoy in this unique spot in the Universe…

They always make me laugh. Expensive to install and completely pointless.

If we see that German couple again, we will ask!

We have always found it very confusing and difficult to get into and out of Lyons. Leave the bikes alone for a day and just explore, the City itself is very interesting by foot and less frustrating.
