1 year agoI feel your pain on getting a working phone. This last time I did make sure our phones were unlocked. I also was lucky that my phone could accept an e SIM card, so I could purchase it online and download on my phone. Scott’s was trickier because I had to buy SIM cards. First one in Spain and then 1 in France. The good news is that we both have SIM cards to use when we go to Italy. All we need to do is refill ten online. I m excited about following your trip!
1 year agoLocked phone, been there done that.
If you get a great deal from your network provider on a new phone it will usually be locked to that network.
I bought a phone once from an electronics shop and the sales person asked what network I intended using and I replied without thinking. When I tried to get an overseas sim I found the phone was locked to that network.
Moral of the story is that you always need to insist that the phone you are buying is unlocked.
Interesting question, we think it was probably wood and mud and washed away over the years.
