I'm so glad that you got the chance to meet and visit with Audrey and learn about the cooperative. She's doing great work and really helping the women in the community come together. I really enjoyed seeing all the pictures of the town and seeing her on her bike. She and I have had conversations about her cycling. Ilya and I hope to head there in the next couple of years and we will have to talk to you about our route. I love the fact that we were able to connect you two with her 😀
1 year agoI've been wondering what those pottery domed things with a hole in the top were... Now I know! Nice photo.
1 year agoWe are thinking of you, also! Sorry the traffic is bad. I’m with you, Rachel, is awful doing a climb on a busy narrow road. Take care.

1 year agoYou’re right, it won’t be long now! We’re on our third leg, on the flight to Rome. We made our 40 minute connection in Frisco and so did our bikes, so we should make Palermo later today.
Happy birthday, Patrick! So old!
Love how folks meet up not in just different countries but different continents. Well done, the three of you.
1 year agoAnd Thanks to you and Linda (more on FB), comments are so nice when on the road and hearing from people. Rachel

1 year agoNeat! Could not find a common name, but it is Cistanche phelypaea. Finally something easy to find on the internet!

That mural is from a famous Steve McCurry photo of an Afghan refugee taken in 1984 for National Geographic. The two iconic images of her show up a lot. We saw paintings of her in tourist markets in Chiang Mai and Siem Reap.
