Yes - excellent profile page. Yours is a life well lived. Wow!
8 months agoI think on our profile page we mention that we are using the same bikes we each had on solo tours in 1992 on all our tours since....of course over the years it's really the frame that is the same
8 months agoI'll have to ask Patrick, but not sure if the Vittorio is still being made. It was a custom bike for him with an extra triangle on the frame. But I thinks this link

Talk about being in the right place at the right time - with someone nice enough to open up special for you. Good karma all the way! Do you have a journal page somewhere that tells about your bicycles? I asked google - but couldn't see anything about the style of Vittorio bicycle Patrick has. I like interesting frame styles.
8 months agoAnd 48 spokes might be overkill now with our tours changing, but it is a relief to minimize the chance of broken spokes.
8 months agoHi Kelly, yes by Patrick putting some white paint where he noticed the crack on the other side of the frame. When we got to Winthrop he noticed the other side needed fixing as well. Fortunately, we were at a spot and WS host that knew a frame builder and we got it fixed again....since 1992 and many tours that was the first break of the frame, and we completed the NT and the Morocco to Holland tour with no problem. Hopefully our Scandinavia and Baltic tour the bikes will still be fine. https://www.cycleblaze.com/journals/racpatnortherntier2021/day-6-rest-day-in-winthrop/
8 months agoYou found the frame damage before leaving on tour? How fortunate! How was it discovered? Have you always used 48 spoke wheels? Once upon a time, for an Alaska tour, I had 48 spoke wheels, but the next set I bought had 36 and those have been robust enough. Crossing fingers.

Hi, my name is Rhonda Heggen & we live in Boise also. My husband & I rode the Northern Tier this past summer and met Patty & Chris in Washington state. We stayed at their farm for a couple days at the end of our ride. My sister saw this in Rails to Trails and sent this to me. My email is ronjon618@gmail.com. It would be fun to meet and compare stories. Here’s our blog: ronjonadventures.blogspot.com
2 years agoWhat a great idea: collecting all the people photos in one page really concentrates them and drives home the point that you meet an endless stream of wonderful people on the road.
2 years agoSame here. I got a little Panasonic super zoom for touring but after someone asked me to take a photo of them with their DSLR, I decided I needed to start bringing mine. So much nicer to use! My husband thinks his phone is just fine and I should be thankful. Before the phone, he never took pictures at all (so I’m not in any family photos).
3 years agoHi Jacquie, there's been an evolution of how many cameras...
Rachel
And my husband thinks it's overkill to bring one real camera!
3 years agoThanks Andrea, Patrick has done almost all the work on the remodel of the house.

Thank you Kelly, we feel very lucky to have been able to do all that we have done. Come visit us in Boise sometime!
