Wow! Looks spectacular!
2 years agoSounds like you landed in one of those fantastic little hotels! We had a memorable one in the rain ("Will you be eating here?" "YES!") on our western Alps trip and another just last fall in Andalusia.

2 years agoOur Pyrenees trip in 2016 was before journal writing days, although Anne did keep a small diary. We basically followed, who else, but Scott and Rachael’s route. We did the Aspin/ Tourmalet double in glorious sunshine. The uphill was quite challenging 😥 but on the downhill had to stop frequently to cool our rims from riding our brakes 🚴

2 years agoI remember having a nice menu du jour lunch before tackling Tourmalet, plus a nice fellow topped up my water. Not sure I’d do it all in one day now, but who knows?
2 years agoYup. This how I remember this pass.
2 years agoWow. So lucky that you got some fresh snow and conditions that let you see it.
2 years agoHi Jacquie
Just rereading your solo trip of the Pyrenees. You did Hourquette and Tourmalet in one day! Wow and carrying camping gear! Super impressed with your abilities. We did Hourquette today, hoping to do Tourmalet tomorrow. It is a little colder than when you did it but we are supposed to have sun tomorrow. Love the look of your Sicily trip!
Hi Patrick
Thanks, already thinking about tomorrow. Just reread your blog, Col du Tourmalet and Col d'Aspin on the same day and in the rain! You guys are hardcore. Super impressed. We hope to just do Tourmalet. Hope it goes well.
Be careful if you're not using fenders. Al and several of his buddies got sick in the Pyrenees and they suspect it was from manure on wet roads that got sprayed up on their water bottles. I only see one bike with fenders...
