A shame: it could be so nice.

As when navigating a minefield, the safest route is the one others have used successfully, but only if you follow it *exactly*.

I'm so sorry - you have to be incredibly frustrated. But you handled it the right way. And maybe you've stumbled onto a gem of an experience!

This is what I aspire to in retirement. Haven't got there yet, unfortunately.

Thanks, Eva. Attitude is everything, isn’t it? It’s hard to feel sorry for ourselves for too long when we’re lucky enough to be in such an exceptional spot.

Thanks, Rich. It’s humbling that we had so many offers of help on our little dilemma. And you were in the back of our minds if we remained stuck.

And it’s nice to hear from you! Coincidentally I almost emailed you last night to make sure you two were OK when I realized we and no one else had heard from you in the last two weeks.

It's great that you two are staying so positive and adaptable in the face of various difficulties. Definitely glass half full! You could never have predicted that your stay in Mattinata would have worked out so well--a bit of serendipity brought on by your positive attitude. I look forward to reading your journal post every day!

I'm reading this a few days late. I've been busy with a family visit. So maybe you've fixed this in the interim. But I'm here and ready to help any way I can. I'll keep reading and hopefully find out how you resolved all this. If not, call me.

Thanks, Kirsten. I was really tickled when I saw the mirror there.
