Definitely worth a stop along the way.
1 year agoAnother place I’ve long wanted to see. Thanks for taking us there.
1 year agoAwesome!!
1 year agoSpectacular place! Been there twice, camped in the remote area (dotted line on the left side of the map). Both times, I was in line for camping reservations about an hour before they opened, and there were lots of folks ahead of me. Lucky to get a good tent site, but then they are probably all good. I agree about taking photos. I took an awful lot and posted a few on my facebook .

Did some more research and the had to do with river bank stabilization many years ago.
1 year agoVehicles or animal barrier, perhaps?
1 year agoNot so sure about that. Those old cars are pretty cool and were easier to maintain and repair than today's electronic infested models.
1 year agoAmazing place! Every time I am close enough, I visit. Only time I was ever there and not inspired, everything was fogged over and it could just as easily been here in Ohio.
1 year agoThat's a pretty dang good photo, though!
1 year agoBelieve you would enjoy the ride on the way back from the Tucson Winterlude … heading to the Petrified Forest next.
1 year agoThis is really a revelation for me. I biked the south rim on a ride from Cedar City to Flagstaff in 1987, the month before Rachael and I first met. We’ve never gone together though, and it never occurred to me to do it at this time of year when we’re in the region.
1 year agoI was there in 2015 and had perfect conditions... If you can view facebook photos:

A lot has changed since my first visit and subsequent visits. Guess I’m a bit old school and wish ALL of the commercial operations were kept out of the park.
1 year agoPrickly pear!

Was kind of hoping for wildflowers, but I guess not warm enough for most yet. Poppies and brittlebush look nice though.
