Mt. Thielsen, the Lightning Rod of the Cascades.
2 months agoTough place to spend time … wish we had time to go back.

2 months agoCongratulations! What a great spot for your milestone ride.
2 months agoI love this trail. We stayed on the lake for about ten days during the Covid year when our Airbnb hosts moved us up to their cabin after the water went out in our apartment down in Pullman. The trails were nearly empty because of Covid. One of the best stays ever.
2 months agoNice write up of the Nakashima family. It’s such a sad chapter in our country’s history, hopefully never to be repeated.

Looks like we won’t make it until late February this year. Grandchild #6 is due at the end of January and we don’t want to miss that or the month following.
3 months agoI’ve set that goal for the last 3 years now. 3 years ago, I missed 2 days. Last year I missed 1 day due to sickness which drove me a bit crazy. So far this year, the record remains unbroken. As for mileage, the last 2 1/2 years I’ve averaged just over 30 miles per day. Should probably take a break sometime but perhaps not today.
3 months agoWinter in Tucson! Yes.
3 months agoCycling every day for an entire year is a serious goal. What is your minimum daily mileage? Dave VanGundy rides every day in the month of May (IDK why, but he's done that for a few years). He says by the end of the month, he's ready for a day off!
3 months agoFireweed is my very favorite flower.
3 months agoComma butterfly. There are about 4 species in that area, all look similar and all are quite variable, but the fine photo settles it for me to be a green comma. Not being a lepidopterist, and not living in the area, my ID is suspect.

Thanks Wayne … sure wish the smoke haze wasn’t lingering up there but the smoke wasn’t an issue by any means.
