Our hotel had them as part of the breakfast buffet so we haven’t had them anywhere else—yet.

We shared a “fish stew”. It was okay but not great. Al ate most of it.

Thanks a crazy line for pastry. In my not-very-extensive experience, all the custard tarts in Lisbon are delicious. We sampled from as many places as possible!

“We ate here”…but which food did you choose? So many choices!

I love the bridge! ( as a native of San Francisco, this is fun!)

Dodie, with already somewhat precarious balance issues, found this paving very disorienting.

So sorry, I’ve just learned that there are two funiculars. The one I spoke of is to the west in the Bica district. But thanks for the memory tripping!!

That’s interesting Jacquie. There were no walls in 2017. It was very exposed, I guess potentially dangerous, that Lisbon made this change. Happy travels!!

Interesting! I might yet make it to San Francisco someday. Maybe even by bicycle!

Something else that reminded me of San Francisco - Lisbon’s trolleys look like cable cars. And SF runs old trolleys from around the world on Market Street during the summer - one of which is from Lisbon. Heh.

It runs on a track protected between concrete walls. There are a few places from which you can see it and I think passengers get a view from it. The side next to this wall is solid, no windows.

We didn’t take the trolley as it looked like it would be a long wait and a crowded ride. Maybe when we are back in Lisbon near the end of November it will be less crowded. Belem is the plan for today.

One of my favourite city’s, definitely not bikeable. Glad you tried the 28E trolly and time out market. The monastery of Jeronemo and the age old bakery next door for their famous Portuguese tarts is my added recomendation! Enjoy!!
